International football is coming to Brisbane this May, and Healthia is proud to be the official support partner on the ground.
From 28–31 May 2026, Perry Park will transform into a global stage as Brisbane hosts the IWFF World Championships. With 17 countries represented and over 400 athletes competing, the “Walkaroos” are ready to show the world that age is no barrier to elite performance. As a leader in allied health and rehabilitative care, Healthia is committed to keeping these athletes and our local Brisbane community moving safely.
Clinical Support at Perry Park
Walking football is a high-skill, low-impact sport, but the demands of a four-day international tournament may require professional physical maintenance. To support the players, Healthia will have a dedicated Physiotherapy and Podiatry tent set up on-site.
Our clinical team will be focusing on:
Acute Injury Management: Providing immediate care for strains or sprains.
Biomechanical Support: Our podiatrists will offer advice on footwear for walking football and orthotic adjustments to help reduce the risk of foot and ankle injuries.
Recovery & Mobility: Soft tissue therapy and stretching exercises to manage joint stiffness and muscle fatigue between matches.
Supporting Active Aging in the Brisbane Community
At Healthia, we believe that staying active is the key to long-term health and wellbeing. Walking football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world because it specifically improves cardiovascular health and mental well-being for participants aged 45 to 75+. Whether you are a competing athlete or a local resident visiting, come see us at the Healthia Tent. We’ll be offering complimentary mobility checks and advice on how to stay “match-fit” at any age.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is walking football safe for people with knee or hip arthritis?
Yes! The sport eliminates running and heavy contact; it is often recommended for those with osteoarthritis. However, we suggest a pre-tournament physiotherapy screening to ensure you have individualised advice and appropriate exercises in place.
What are the best shoes for walking football?
When choosing the best shoes for walking football, our podiatrists suggest that whether you wear running, walking, or cross-training shoes matters less than three key factors: comfort, proper arch support, and a match for your specific foot type.
Where can I find a Healthia clinic in Brisbane?
